Hampshire Architect’s Carrie Lowe is delighted to have achieved her Carbon Literacy Certificate which she celebrated with the New Forest National Park Authority and Southampton National Park Cities at their fabulous Urban Wild event on Southampton Common at the weekend.

The Carbon Literacy Project provides in depth carbon literacy training courses to give people “An awareness of the carbon costs and impacts of everyday activities, and the ability and motivation to reduce emissions, on an individual, community, and organisational basis”.

Carbon Literacy® refers to the awareness of climate change and the impact of human activities on the climate. Carbon Literacy encompasses the knowledge and capacity necessary to effect positive changes in how individuals live, work, and behave in response to climate change. Upon completing a day’s worth of Carbon Literacy education, learners can be certified as ‘Carbon Literate’.

“Already an advocate of sustainable living and energy saving construction practices as well as a member of the Mothers Climate Action Network, the carbon literacy training gave me the missing piece in my knowledge that I had been looking for. It filled in the gaps with information about where to find, and stay up to date with, official facts and figures about the climate emergency to cut through the greenwash and stand up to climate deniers.” Carrie Lowe, Hampshire Architect
