About Hampshire Architect

I’m Carrie Lowe, the architect behind Hampshire Architect

I’m based in Netley Abbey, between Hamble and Southampton. I set up Hampshire Architect in 2010 and since then I’ve helped hundreds of homeowners across Hampshire turn houses into homes that work better for real life.

I’m an ARB registered and RIBA chartered architect, experienced in solving and troubleshooting even the most challenging home improvement conundrums.

Design, Budget and Sustainability Consultations with Hampshire Architect

A different kind of architectural service

My service is different. I design and sketch right there with you at the property, exploring options, looking at costs and developing stunning yet practical solutions.

All ARB registered architects have undertaken a minimum of seven years’ training. RIBA Chartered Architects are fully insured and are required to undertake continual professional development to stay up to date with construction.

There are many people offering “architectural services”, but unless they use the protected title of “Architect”, they are not qualified to the same degree, particularly with regard to design. Often they lack the skills or experience to advise and design with you on the spot.

Why work with me?

  • ARB registered architect
  • RIBA chartered architect
  • Certified Carbon Literate

Design advice that starts with how you live

A good home is not just about how it looks in photos. It needs to work for everyday life, family routines, storage, light, flow, budget and future plans.

I take time to understand how you live, what is not working and what you want your home to become.

Helpful if you are thinking about:

  • Extending your home
  • Reworking your kitchen, dining or living space
  • Improving light and connection to the garden
  • Deciding whether to move or improve
  • Understanding what may be possible before buying a house
My career and background

“At the age of fourteen, my school organised work experience for me with an architectural practice, which inspired me to begin my career in architecture. With the exception of a fascinating exchange to Vienna and the Ukraine, I studied at the University of Portsmouth and qualified and registered as an architect in 2002.

As well as working for practices locally, I have worked in London and New Zealand and have designed and managed a wide variety of projects from small domestic projects to large commercial and retail schemes; from modern contemporary buildings to listed stately homes.

This background has given me many skills that are instrumental to Hampshire Architect, from design to technical construction detailing; from working with planners and building inspectors to learning how to really listen to customers.

Having carried out extensions and alterations to several of my own homes over the years, I also know how it feels to live with a building project going on. I love working with people to achieve their dream home; it is incredibly rewarding.

I also find being a mum of two invaluable when helping my customers achieve their ideal family home and improve their resale value to future proof their asset.”
