For this lovely family of five, the bottom line was ‘extend considerably, or move’. The difficulty was designing an extension that created the extra space needed without unbalancing the house. The design tackles this challenge by creating a new two-storey gabled wing, to not only give the extra space but to give the kerb appeal deserved by such a large house. The family have gained two extra double bedrooms with a jack-and-jill en-suite for their twins, as well as a new open-plan kitchen-living-dining room with new playroom and attached garage. Large sliding doors connect the open-plan space with the garden so that the children can play outside while being supervised from within.
